Idea for TV Thriller

Idea for TV Thriller My TV Thriller is titled 'Three of a Kind' and revolves around the game and thrill of Poker. A high stakes game of Poker leads to a lot of Crime and Conflict between three different conflicting parties after they get the unwanted result. Now three of them are in this game, but only one will come out on top as the others get dealt with death. We demonstrate this through the recurring theme of cards and poker on the posters which allude to the idea of gambling. Additionally, the threat of the danger is alluded to on Poster 2 as it shows and ominous silhouetted figure dead on top of a card. On the posters we will try to keep it tame and not show much violence and danger, but the darker colors along with the mystery and gambling of the poker will allude to something more dangerous and thrilling. In terms of color schemes as well, the titles, release date, and ITV X logo will all have a White Color scheme with a Purple glow to allow them to stand out and catch ...

My Statement of Intent

My Statement of Intent   On my posters, I will make sure that they m eet the guidelines of the ASA and don’t set out to offend anyone, but however, draws people in to watch the show. On the Poster, there are some hints of violence, especially one which has a hint of blood running down a playing card. However, it is not overly graphic as the figure is also blacked out as a silhouette. There are also strong undertones of gambling present with the theming of Poker and Playing Cards on the posters. However, the show more explores the dangerous nature of it which is why it is shown to be negative on the poster with people concerned, or in danger etc.   In order to be successful with audiences, the posters must draw in people's attention. To draw in people's attention, I have tried to be more creative with the posters using different techniques such as silhouettes and different edits, etc. I have also used intertextuality to other Iconic Thriller Posters such as Silenc...

History and Popularity of Thrillers

History of Thrillers:   Thrillers date back to the 1800s/early 1900s novels, but the genre expanded much more in the 1900s. The work of Alfred Hitchcock (the master of suspense) is most notable for the genre , particularly with his films such as Vertigo, Birds and Psycho. Thrillers were orig inally intended to heighten feelings of Suspense , excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety. Most notably using devices such as Red Herrings, Plot Tw ists, Cliffhangers and even Unreliable Narrators. They most notably overlapped with o th er genres such as Horror and Detective Fiction. Whilst much of these ideas are still the same today , the genre ‘thriller’ is much more vague with now many different subgenres such as Spy Thriller, Crime Thriller, Action Thriller etc. And the ever-growing use of Hybrid Genres making most films, TV and pieces of fictio n not feel exclusive to one particular genre today.     Popularity of the Genre   Thrillers are typ...

TV Thriller Poster Analysis

TV Thriller Poster Analysis :   Breaking Bad:   Money and Drugs – relates to crime – typical of thrillers. Darker color scheme – more dramatic – thriller like . Aimed at an older more mature audience – use of drugs, violence etc. The use of lighting makes it seem darker and much more serious addin g to the intensity and drama. The fon t is quite basic but cleverly uses elements of the periodic table to draw in people's attention and show what the main show is actually about. It also helps it stand out and creates a memorable logo. This is more of a Drama type of thriller, so it is shown through the more serious nature of the poster and look of Bryan Cranston. Primarily targeted at an older audience due to the seriousness of the poster, and the serious themes of the show, as well as the recognizability of the cast. Particularly Bryan Cranston who they would have recognized from shows like Malcom in the Middle.   Barry:   Quite a Dark color schem e – allows...
